So, Thursday afternoon, I collected my brains about me, counted and measured, and measured and counted (no pattern, you see--just measurements and a not entirely complete memory as to the design we and Mrs. E. had settled on) and finally, scissors to the fabric--which is beautiful, by the way...it has a directional pattern, so I knew I was going to have to piece the sides. There was no way I was going to cut that pattern side-ways!
First, I sewed the side panels together. We were already planning on a center pleat in each panel, so that worked perfectly for masking my seams:
The hardest part wasn't even that hard; just time consuming (and slightly tedious). Sewing the panels onto the flat sheet:
The only "iffy" part is my corners, which really don't look that bad. I just need more practice with this sort of sewing, that's all.
